THERAPY SERVICES
Individual Counseling
Advanced Counseling and Research Services provides 1:1 individual counseling
sessions to clients. Generally, these sessions last about 50 minutes and
are offered in-person or via a secure telehealth platform. Whether you are seen
in person or via telehealth depends on clinician availability as well as your
own preference. Sessions are pay-as-you go and can be scheduled weekly, bi-weekly,
or at intervals you and your clinician determine are best for your treatment.

Group Counseling
Advanced Counseling and Research Services offers evidence-based best practices,
trauma-related skills, knowledge, and objectives-oriented therapy groups
specifically designed curriculum to provide mindful therapeutic and researched
relief to individuals who have lived traumatic experiences. ACRS has developed,
using researched, organized behavioral approaches, along with skills-based exercises
to help individuals process traumatic responses to help them recover from symptomology
related to their own traumatic experiences. Individuals work in groups facilitated
by a professional counselor.
Our group design is centered upon the effective practical interventions and techniques
drawn from trauma modalities such as CBT, EMDR, Energy Psychology, Focusing Gestalt Therapy,
Guided Imagery, Mindfulness, Psychodrama, Sensorimotor Psychology, Art Therapies, DBT, EFT,
PT, CPT, and many others. We offer our group design in Women, Mens and Co-Ed Cohorts.
Healing Techniques
Healing Techniques is a coping skills and psychoeducational group for individuals
who struggle with depression, anxiety, trauma, anger, coping skills use, etc.
Group lasts an hour and a half and consists of supportive and interactive time with
both a licensed therapist and peers who can relate to common issues. This allows for
growth, accountability, and support on an ongoing basis.

PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
Professional Accountability
Advanced Counseling and Research Services seeks to be a reliable community resource
for individuals seeking quality counseling services. Individuals seeking therapy
can often find information about the services available in the community but have
great difficulty assessing the quality of those services. Individuals seeking therapy
for themselves or others may find the following services beneficial:
Evaluation of Potential Counseling Service: Individuals can contract with
Advanced Counseling and Research Services to evaluate a potential counseling source.
This evaluation will include such things as the qualifications of individuals providing
the clinical services, compliance to "best practices", focus on individualized therapy,
measurable clinical indicators used to determine client progress, and measurable indicators
of overall treatment effectiveness within the practice
Evaluation of Outcomes Research Initiatives: There are many different types of research activities
that can generate "evidence" of counseling effectiveness. Some of these approaches are more rigorous
than others. Some approaches have little or no validity or reliability and are virtually worthless
as stand-alone indicators of treatment effectiveness. Advanced Counseling and Research Services
provides an opportunity for individuals seeking therapy from an "evidence-based" treatment program
to better understand the dimensions and rigor of the research effort. On behalf of the individual,
Advanced Counseling and Research Services will request information regarding the research efforts
under consideration and evaluate the research design for accuracy and rigor.
Treatment Monitoring: Advanced Counseling and Research Services will assist in the monitoring of
therapy provided by other practitioners or agencies. Working on behalf of the individual client,
efforts will be made to determine the quality and effectiveness of the clinical services being provided.
To discuss these services in more detail contact our office at 717-394-3994 or send us an email to acrs@advanced-counseling.com.
Educational Services

Research Support
Clinical Counseling Impact: In this era of accountability, counseling professionals and agencies
are facing greater demands to prove that the clinical services they offer actually result in
positive client behavior change. The element of proof of clinical effectiveness is also
changing from the traditional "clinical opinion" to a more rigorous reliance on formal outcomes
including both qualitative and quantitative measures. Advanced Counseling and Research Services
believes that all professionals have a professional and ethical responsibility to engage in valid,
on-site research efforts to support their clinical services. Through the use of selected
age-appropriate psychometric instruments, our clinicians collect, analyze, and interpret objective
data throughout the counseling experience to incorporate into a comprehensive assessment of each client
and to help determine the impact of counseling. Advanced Counseling and Research Service makes
the following services available to other counseling practitioners and agencies that seek to engage
in valid, site-based outcomes research initiatives to support their clinical services.
Research Design Development: All counseling services are unique when considering the nature
of clientele served, the professional training and qualifications of clinical staff,
the counseling specialties represented, and the theoretical approaches used in therapy.
An appropriate research design addresses the uniqueness of each counseling entity and reflects
those clinical elements that form the philosophical tenets of the professional practice.
Advanced Counseling and Research Services can help counseling professionals and agencies
develop meaningful research designs that include sufficient rigor to assess the effectiveness
of the clinical services provided to the public.
Data Analysis and Interpretation The analysis and interpretation of quantitative data can present
a major challenge for professionals seeking to assess the effectiveness of their clinical services.
Understanding "significant differences" and "effect size" are important features to consider
in behavioral research. Advanced Counseling and Research Services maintains access to current
statistical software programs (SPSS) to assist in data analysis and interpretation.

Clinical Supervision
The clinical staff at Advanced Counseling and Research Services is committed
to advancing the professional counseling discipline. One way to accomplish this
is to provide clinical supervision for individuals seeking licensure as a professional
counselor in Pennsylvania. The clinical supervision experience will focus on counseling
skills development, legal and ethical issues, exposure to current local, state,
and national trends facing professional counselors today, evidence-based therapy,
and best practices.
In most cases, clinical supervision will be provided to individuals who have already
completed the graduate coursework required for licensure but may find themselves
in a work environment that cannot provide the supervised clinical experience
required by law. Our clinical staff will coordinate supervisory activities
with counseling agency personnel and develop appropriate contracts and letters
of understanding.
